Copilot for Obsidian is an AI copilot that works inside your Obsidian vault — chat with your notes, search across them, and generate new ones (AGPL-3.0, source, by Brevilabs). Opper ships inside the plugin as a built-in provider choice, so there’s no base URL to type: the endpoint comes prefilled.

Setup

1

Open the BYOK settings

In Obsidian, go to Settings → Copilot → BYOK → Add a provider.
2

Search for Opper

Type Opper and select it. The base URL is prefilled.
3

Paste your API key

Create one at platform.opper.ai and paste it in.
The model list is fetched from Opper, filtered by your model access rules.

Choosing a model

Copilot for Obsidian uses models for two distinct jobs — chat and embeddings for vault search. Pick a chat model from the catalog, and an embedding model separately if you want semantic search over your notes.
Vault contents are personal data. If that matters for you, pin an EU-hosted model and set a retention rule on the project this key belongs to.

Retention rules

Control what’s stored, per project.
